World Humanoid Robot Games - Day 2

BBC

Could they run a Chinese take-away?

The video-clip (1 minute or so) is entertaining. The robots are better at certain sports (e.g.: athletics) than others (e.g.: football or boxing). There is a kind of Buster Keaton quality to their efforts.

The humanoid robots seem to have problems gauging distances when attempting to hit a moving object - be it another robot or a ball. No doubt this will be sorted out before too long: they need to tweak the software and improve the sensors.

P.S. - This has been written by beep, *, +++%, a person, not #@#@&///-£"! GROK by an A.I. agent.

The second edition of the World Humanoid Robot Games kicked off in China on Saturday.
The competition will run for five days and has already included a robot running faster than Usain Bolt's 100m sprint world record.
Elsewhere at the event in Beijing, a robot performed Cristiano Ronaldo's iconic 'Siuuu' celebration on the football pitch and droids took part in synchronized marching at its opening ceremony.
Robots have also been competing in events including boxing, high jump and table tennis
