Wetware: A Computer in Every Living Cell
The premise of "Wetware: A Computer in Every Living Cell" is that systems of proteins can convey and process information at the level of a single free-living cell. These proteins act as switches or transistors, functioning as the nervous system does for multi-cellular organisms. That is that cellular membranes and contents may be functional equivalents of computers.

Google's New technology
Flexpeaker - paper-thin speakers made from paper (see http://dvice.com/archives/2009/04/flexpeaker-pape.php ) and paper-thin displays (see http://broadcastengineering.com/news/broadcasting_paperthin_displays_near/ ) together with advanced in chip miniaturization makes it possible to surpass devices such as this - promised by Google - by making them talk:
Smart Internet search will be able to do with a mobile device in the NEAR future. A mobile device with Touch screen, built in camera, scanner, WiFi, Google Map (perhaps Google Earth), Google Search, Google Image Search...
Like this way, when you can see a building through it, it gives you the image search result right on the spot.
Choose a building and touch a floor and it tells you more details of the building. You can use it when you want to know a car model, an insect name, what kind of food is served at a restaurant and how much, who built a bridge, etc. etc.

Statistical Analysis & Innovation
Felix Grant explores the role of statistical analysis in the field of invention:
"While the ability to call on sophisticated data analytic methods is probably of greatest proportional significance in small and sparsely resourced contexts, it applies strongly throughout the size and funding scale."
